If you've got a kid in Mesa Public Schools, the state's report cards are in. The district earned a B again, and 33 of its schools got an A, including all of its comprehensive high schools. Another 34 schools got a B, and seven got a C. None went lower.

  • District grade: B for the third year in a row
  • Mesa schools that improved on 2024-25 grades: 19
  • Appeal deadline for districts: Nov. 16

Around the East Valley, Chandler Unified hit a record 34 A schools, up from 31 last year. All 14 brick-and-mortar schools in Queen Creek Unified earned an A, and Kyrene had 18 A schools among its 25.

Statewide, more schools earned an A and fewer earned a C

These are the last grades under the current A–F standards. The state board approved revised Oct. 26, and they apply to grades released in fall 2027. The comparisons with 2024-25 are preliminary, because last year's figures reflect grades after appeals, while this year's are still subject to appeal.

The highlight of my morning walk was going to the library and voting, but it’s what happened right before I dropped my ballot.

“To the lady in front of me at the Mesa Gateway Library . You’re too cute!! 🥰 She was so proud of being 93 and walking up to drop her ballot, so we all clapped for her!! 👏 😊✨ I clapped extra lol ☺️ Made my day! 💛”

The Wrap

A Friday night downpour in Scottsdale on Oct. 30 felt more like the first monsoon storms of summer than late October. National Weather Service hydrologist Isaac Smith called the heavy rain "very anomalous for this time of year," and a few rainfall records fell. Clear skies and a high of 75 today feel well earned.
