  • Two Mesa cemeteries—Mariposa Gardens at 6747 E. Broadway Road with a 10 a.m. ceremony and Mountain View Cemetery at 7900 E. Main St. with a 9 a.m. ceremony—will hold Memorial Day services on Monday, May 26 to honor veterans, and a Wreaths Across America table will offer volunteer and wreath sponsorship options with each $17 sponsorship returning $5 to support local veteran programs.  Mesa Independent

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Mesa police reported that an employee—an unidentified man—fell into equipment and became trapped at an industrial facility near Meridian and Pecos roads in Mesa overnight on Tuesday and died at the scene.  ABC15 Arizona

  • The Arizona Small Business Association launched the SCALE Program in partnership with the state commerce authority last week to help local entrepreneurs build stronger businesses. The program offers mobile workshops in rural and underserved areas & a six-month deep dive designed to expand skills & foster networking.  KJZZ

ECONOMY NEWS

  • On hot days, SRP, APS, and TEP will override customer smart thermostats to raise temperatures and reduce air conditioning use so the grid is less strained. Customers earn bill credits—helping utilities shed up to 125 megawatts of demand—while these programs support energy stability as heat waves and population growth increase demand.  KJZZ
