  • Lottery winners in the East Valley netted $355K when a $205K Fantasy 5 ticket bought at Bashas’ (10325 E. Riggs Road in Sun Lakes) for the Dec. 23 drawing and two Powerball tickets purchased at Mesa stores for the Dec. 24 drawing paid out their prizes. Lottery officials confirmed the winning tickets added holiday cheer.  Mesa Independent

  • Mesa City Council voted unanimously on Dec. 8 to recommend that the Arizona Department of Liquor License and Control approve a new series 12 restaurant license for Il Forno Bello Pizzeria LLC at 3121 E. McKellips Road, where no license exists for this lunch and dinner spot.  Mesa Independent
