Good morning, Mesa.
💼 Business
The Mesa Design Review Board discussed landscape plans for a nearly 2,600-square-foot expansion of the Mint Dispensary facility on East Southern Avenue on November 18—board members Paul Johnson and Denise Dunlop were absent.
Staff Planner Charlotte Bridges said the site is zoned light industrial and allows marijuana use with required setbacks, with access from both Southern Avenue and Wilbur.
🎓 Education
Bristyn McKinney, a sixth-grader at Legacy Traditional School - East Mesa, won a $529 check for her essay in the AZ529 Essay Contest.
The award money will be deposited into an AZ529 savings plan (to support her future college studies) as she shared her dream of becoming a nurse like her parents.
🏥 Health
Dylan Skalina, a 13-year-old with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and Type 1 diabetes who collapsed while trick-or-treating and later died at Phoenix Children’s Hospital, is remembered for his kind and selfless nature.
His family holds a memorial service today at Scottsdale’s New Covenant Lutheran Church—his donated organs have already helped patients in need.
