- ➤ Alaia Vizcarra will officially join her Mesa family on Saturday at the Durango Juvenile Court Center during National Adoption Day when Commissioner David Keys-Nunes finalizes her adoption at 10 a.m. in Courtroom 6—she becomes the Vizcarras’ fifth adopted child. Fifty children will be adopted overall at the event that runs from 9 a.m. to noon and features carnival activities outside the courthouse. Mesa Independent
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A section of the roof at a dental office in Desert Sky Mall collapsed on Wednesday during heavy rains while about 20 patients and staff evacuated safely, and no one was injured. The mall remained closed indefinitely due to water damage and disabled fire sprinklers — engineers and mall officials are coordinating repairs. 12 News

- ➤ Tesla received ADOT permission to test its robotaxi service in metro Phoenix with safety drivers — the permit expands testing from Austin to here — and the company must apply for another permit to operate without drivers. KJZZ

- ➤ The Holiday Season brings many festive events across the Valley including Mesa Merry Main Street from Nov. 28 to Jan. 10, which offers Santa visits, an ice rink, & live music, and Christmas at the Princess from today through Jan. 3 with ice skating, light displays and a Ferris wheel. Additional events include Phoenix Zoo Lights, Christmas on the Farm, Desert Farm Lights, the Chandler Tumbleweed Tree Lighting on Dec. 6, the Chandler Community Menorah from Dec. 14 to 22 and Glendale Glitters until Dec. 31. 12 News

- ➤ Mesa Community College will celebrate its 60th anniversary on December 3 with a high-energy finale at the Red Mountain Campus Saguaro Patio—featuring multiple activities to reflect on its past and spark its future. The event runs from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Mesa Independent
- ➤ Arizona became the nation’s top adopter of Khanmigo after a $1.5 million investment provided over 170,000 students with Khan Academy’s AI tutoring platform (which guides learning using a Socratic method). Mesa Public Schools saw improved letter grades and officials believe the tool offers an affordable way for teachers to focus on creative work at $15 per student per year. East Valley Tribune
