Here's your local news at a glance for Sunday, the 26th of October.
Good morning, Mesa.
On Saturday, more than 100 volunteers planted trees and built stormwater basins at Reed Park to cool the neighborhood and boost shade—local officials say the work will help raise canopy cover from 8% to 15% and cut down on heat.
Mesa may soon permit Class 1 and Class 2 e-bikes with a top speed of 20 mph to be ridden in parks including on sidewalks — the City Code update would require helmets for riders and youth under 18 and include plans for public education and targeted enforcement to address vandalism.
The City Council is set to review the proposal before the end of the year.
