ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Resolution Copper’s project 60 miles east of Phoenix near Oak Flat—an Apache holy site—has not begun despite billions spent on permits, and companies BHP and Rio Tinto expect it to eventually supply 25% of the nation’s copper while creating 3,700 jobs and $300 million in tax revenue. Once operating, the mine will ship copper concentrate 700 miles by rail where it may be smelted overseas. KJZZ

- ➤ The City of Mesa announced a partnership with The Be Kind People Project to create educational content for Mesa Public Schools and other local institutions — the program uses funds from an opioid settlement to build youth resiliency and will launch on Oct. 22 at 4:00 p.m. at the Arizona Museum of Natural History.
