- ➤ Mesa neighbors in Hermosa Vista worry about safety after over two dozen officers and a helicopter arrived on Oct. 3 near Legacy Recovery Center—just yards from Hermosa Vista Elementary School—as police responded to a call about a suicidal person; the center, which was changed to allow only four residents without a permit, is now suing the city over this zoning rule. 12 News

- ➤ Chef Jennifer Caraway, a Chopped champion, runs Joy Bus — a nonprofit that sends about 1,300 meals each week to roughly 300 cancer patients across the state. She started the service after her friend Joy battled cancer and will release her first cookbook, The Joy Bus Cookbook: Meals That Matter, later this month to further support her mission of healing through food.
