- ➤ On Sunday, neighbors in a Mesa subdivision near Ellsworth and Broadway roads reported that heavy rains caused flood waters to damage at least four homes—soaking interiors, submerging yards, and prompting calls to insurance companies as residents await the HOA to clear a clogged culvert. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Due to heavy rain this weekend, Mesa retention basins are near capacity and some neighborhoods may experience localized flooding—additional rain is forecast. Residents are urged to take precautions and collect free sandbags from local fire stations and service centers. Mesa Now

- ➤ Fans will vote on which high school football game leads off Week 8 of Friday Night Fever, with one matchup in Mesa featuring the Red Mountain Lions playing the Mountain View Toros.
