- ➤ Gas prices in Mesa are rising after a massive fire kept a Chevron refinery in California offline since last Thursday. Experts say prices may increase by up to 15 cents a gallon until imported gas from Asia starts arriving — a change that could keep rates high through the holidays. KJZZ

- ➤ The Mesa City Council voted unanimously to approve a three-year contract valued at $1.2M a year for a mobile natural gas supply to support the city's Energy Resources Department — the contract will let the city use pre-selected suppliers during extreme weather events or maintenance.
