GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Mesa City Council unanimously approved a five‐year contract for industrial plumbing supplies for city parks, recreation and community facilities in Beverly Park—set at $1.4 million per year—and awarded it to the vendor with the highest proposal score.  Mesa Independent
  • Mesa City Council approved a Notice of Intent to adjust utility rates and opened a 60-day comment period for residents to review proposals that will likely add less than $6 to most monthly bills. Council will take final action on Dec 1—if approved, the increases for water, wastewater, gas, electricity and trash will go into effect on Jan 1, 2026.  The Mesa Tribune
  • Governor Katie Hobbs signed SB 1658 in June, and the new law—Jerry’s Law—took effect on Sept. 26 to require pet owners to give their pets enough food, water, and shelter while clearly defining animal cruelty.  12 News
