- ➤ The City of Mesa will host Domestic Violence Awareness Night on Oct. 2 at The Post, 26 N. Macdonald from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. to honor survivors and remember victims with displays, remarks by city officials, and a candlelight vigil featuring purple candles—an effort to raise awareness and support in our community. ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Mesa’s Office of Economic Development announced last week that 47 companies relocated or expanded—covering 5 million square feet and creating 3,370 jobs with average salaries above $65,000. The report detailed projects across industries such as biotech, retail, and manufacturing that will boost Mesa’s future economic growth. The Mesa Tribune

- ➤ Mesa City Council approved a three-year $1.6M contract to install and repair park signs on Sept. 22. The council voted 7 to 0 to give Mesa company Sierra Signs & Service Inc. the work to update signs at parks and other city facilities. Mesa Independent
- ➤ The Mesa City Council has issued a notice to adjust utility rates—starting a 60-day period for residents and businesses to review the proposal. The adjustments may raise most household bills by less than $6 monthly, and the council will vote on the changes in November with a final decision on Dec. 1 and new rates starting Jan. 1, 2026. - ➤ Tuesday night, the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Dodgers 5-4 when Geraldo Perdomo hit a two-out, game-winning single in the ninth inning—keeping his team in the NL wild card race after a comeback from an early four-run deficit. - ➤ Maricopa County Board of Supervisors Chairman Thomas Galvin launched an effort today to bring hockey back to metro Phoenix by seeking potential owners and a new arena location—an advisory committee led by Andrea Doan will hold a news conference on Thursday.
