- ➤ Deandre Johnson, 33, was sentenced to 17.5 years in prison for attacking a child safety worker in Mesa in November 2024 by using a chokehold that left the victim unconscious and was livestreamed for all to see. Mesa Independent

- ➤ Sculptor Bobby Zokaites has installed his new public art piece “A Time Machine Called Tinaja” in a local park in Mesa—featuring two arches that measure 16 feet and 19 feet tall and mimic flowing water. - ➤ Arizona Rep. Ansari called for immediate oversight and better medical care at ICE detention centers after her visit to the Eloy Detention Center near Phoenix, where immigrants like Yari—who has battled cancer for over 10 years—did not receive proper specialist treatment. She said 98 detainees reported problems with insufficient water and medicine and feared retaliation for speaking out. KJZZ
