- ➤ The Australian Pink Floyd Show will perform its Wish You Were Here 50th Anniversary show at Mesa Arts Center on Friday, Aug. 22nd at 8 p.m.—tickets start at $74.50—. The band will use a laser show and high resolution LED screens to deliver a note-for-note performance of Pink Floyd's hits. Mesa Independent

- ➤ Families interested in a new learning environment for the 2025-26 school year will attend campus tours at ASU Prep Polytechnic Preschool—scheduled for Friday, August 29 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM—at 6950 East Williams Field Road where enrollment details will be shared. Mesa Independent
- ➤ Mesa Public Schools will cut five assistant superintendent positions in the 2026-27 fiscal year after the board approved the plan on Aug. 14 to address a budget shortfall of $9M to $18M—this decision comes as declining enrollment is expected to cause a loss of about 1,800 students and $12.5M in funding, prompting the district to create two new roles for academics and school operations. The move reflects the district’s effort to streamline management and keep schools open amid ongoing funding challenges. East Valley Tribune

- ➤ The federal government is set to transfer more than 2,200 acres known as Oak Flat to Resolution Copper today, causing strong protests from tribes and conservation groups who fear the mining will harm sacred lands. The project—planned 40 miles east of Phoenix—will use a block-cave method that may create a large crater, and a judge recently ruled against stopping the transfer. 12 News
