💼 Business
Waymo is expanding its driverless ride service area in the East Valley by adding 55 square miles to cover Gilbert, parts of Chandler + San Tan Ranch.
It plans to connect to Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport soon from its Mesa base, while West Valley remains excluded.
A new Mountain America Credit Union with a drive-thru is planned for 1.5 acres at the northeast corner of East McKellips and North Recker roads in Mesa.
The project includes a 5,434-sqft financial building and a 2,397-sqft facilities building (discussed during the Aug. 11 Mesa Design Review Board meeting).
🏛️ Government
Mesa Council is set to approve a notice of intent to reimburse sales tax to Cannon Beach for public infrastructure improvements supporting a planned 130-room high-end hotel + reimbursements up to $950,000 depend on completing work within 36 months, with final council action expected Sept. 14.
