- ➤ Gulfstream Aerospace opened a technical training center in Mesa that has over 10,000 square feet of classroom and lab space — including a G650 fuselage segment, G700 engine, and G200 simulator—to train technicians in sheet metal work, mechanical maintenance, and safety. - ➤ Developers paused construction on a 664,000-square-foot industrial project because their design approvals expired in September at a 38.8-acre site east of East Germann and South Ellsworth Road. The Mesa Design Review Board discussed the design on Aug. 12—officials say new approval is needed before work resumes. Mesa Independent

- ➤ The Mesa Police Department is seeking help finding 16-year-old Dylan Noblitt, who was last seen at 8:40 p.m. August 14 near Lindsay and Southern Avenue—he is white with blonde hair and blue eyes, stands 5 feet 9 inches tall, wears a juvenile probation ankle monitor, and anyone with information is asked to call Mesa police at 480-644-2211. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Dewain Fox ruled that state lawmakers did not meet the constitution's requirement to fully fund public school facilities—which means billions will have to be spent—as the state plans to appeal the decision. Experts warn that lawmakers may have to choose between making cuts or proposing a new ballot measure to fix the funding gap. KJZZ

- ➤ On Aug. 13, the Mesa Planning and Zoning Board voted 5-0 to recommend the City Council approve rezoning of a 6.5-acre site for a new 41-lot development named Price Manor II, located north of the northeast corner of East McKellips Road and North Center Street — two board members were absent.
