- ➤ A Valley family in Mesa is searching for 19-year-old Emma Sheets who was last seen on July 5 leaving her grandmother's home for an Uber arranged by a man she met online through Fortnite—her phone became unreachable after she left Abrazo Hospital on July 21 and Glendale police are investigating her disappearance while her parents worry she is in danger. 12 News
- ➤ Mesa police shot a man on Aug. 10 after he ran across US 60 between Country Club Drive — Loop 101 during a chase. The Arizona Republic
- ➤ Arnold Barney, 19, of Mesa has been indicted in connection with his 6-week-old son's death after the child's mother left him alone on July 28—doctors found the baby unresponsive with a bruised face and brain bleeding. Mesa Independent

- ➤ The Mesa City Council will review an application for a new series 12 restaurant license for Mountain Mike’s Pizza Mesa, which serves lunch and dinner, at its meeting on Monday, Aug. 18 at 5:45 p.m. at 20 E. Main St., and will recommend the license to the Arizona Department of Liquor License and Control for KDV Investments LLC while the current license for Mountain Mikes AZ 1 LLC reverts to the state—agent Kirandeep Singh Virk manages the process. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Mexico's state of Sonora reported 87 confirmed measles cases this year, making it the second highest in the country after Chihuahua's nearly 4,000 cases—further underscoring the ongoing measles surge as Arizona confirmed its first case earlier this summer.
