- ➤ A 19-year-old Mesa father, Arnold Barney, faces a first-degree murder charge after his six-week-old son died from severe head trauma following six open-handed slaps intended to stop his crying—Barney apologized during his initial court appearance and is held on a $1 million secured bond at Maricopa County Jail. 12 News
- ➤ Officers responded to a Mesa home near Loop 101 and Baseline Road just before 5:30 p.m. Tuesday and found 60-year-old Angela Ciura and 55-year-old Robert Braun dead from gunshot wounds—investigators believe the case is a possible murder-suicide and note that the victims were divorced.
