CRIME NEWS

  • On July 17, 2025, Mesa police responded to an aggravated assault when a protester claimed a counterprotester pointed a gun during the Good Trouble Lives On protest at the intersection of Dobson Road and Southern Avenue.  The Arizona Republic
  • The Mesa Police Department is seeking public help to locate 22-year-old Dylan Waltz, who was last seen on July 16 at 11 p.m. near Brown and Gilbert roads after leaving his home in blue jeans, a black shirt, white Nike shoes and a brown hat and who has multiple cognitive disorders; he is 6 feet 1 inch tall, weighs 200 pounds and anyone with information is asked to call Mesa Police at 480-644-2211.  Mesa Independent

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Circus Farm will return to Mesa Arts Center in July with a 60-minute family circus show that includes games, balloons, juggling, unicycle stunts, and LED lighted props. Performances will occur at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. on July 20 and 27 at Nesbitt/Elliott Playhouse (1 E. Main St.), with tickets starting at $15.25 and a fun pre-show hosted by MABEL.  Mesa Independent

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Arizona Game and Fish Department officials warned residents this week that wild tortoises must be left in their natural habitat—moving them can lead to death from loss of food and shelter. The department advised calling 844-896-5730 if a tortoise is seen in a busy area.  KJZZ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Mesa Planning and Zoning Board will vote on a site plan modification for a 45,000 square-foot industrial development at its upcoming meeting—starting with a study of the proposal. The board's decision comes as part of its regular review of local development projects.  Mesa Independent

HEALTH NEWS

  • Public television will soon air a 'Viewpoint with Dennis Quaid' segment that shows how Mesa's MDM Physical Therapy uses personalized care and technology to help patients overcome pain and injury—filmed in June 2024, the segment explains a hands-on approach that treats the root causes of discomfort.  Mesa Independent
