BUSINESS NEWS

  • A federal judge approved a class action lawsuit for Arizonans injured in vehicle accidents who claimed Allstate did not pay full benefits — and the insurer may still appeal the certification. Plaintiff attorney John DeStefano said the claim was that payouts should equal the coverage limit multiplied by the number of vehicles — a change that could help those underpaid.  KJZZ

  • The Australian Pink Floyd Show will perform its Wish You Were Here 50th Anniversary show on Aug. 22 at the Mesa Arts Center in the Ikeda Theater (1 E. Main St.) with the show starting at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $74.50.  Mesa Independent

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Mesa City Council approved on June 16 a three-year contract for electric utility construction, maintenance and emergency response services for the city’s Energy Resources Department—designed to ensure reliable service in Mesa.  Mesa Independent
  • ADOT maintains over 60 pump stations across the Valley that remove water during heavy monsoon rains — each pump can clear more than 12,000 gallons per minute to keep freeways safe. Staff technicians are on call 24-hours a day to update and maintain the pumps and prevent flood-related closures.  12 News
