- ➤ Arizona’s Department of Economic Security announced on June 17th that it would reduce its workforce by 5% due to federal funding cuts and cost shifts to the state—affected employees received two and a half weeks’ notice with a final workday on July 4th. KJZZ
- ➤ The Mesa City Council voted 6-0 on June 16 to clear the way for a proposed private school expansion—the council will vote on a modified council use permit on July 1. Mesa Independent
- ➤ Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly said he opposes a Senate bill that calls for selling or dispersing more than 120 million acres of public land for affordable housing. The proposal affects over 2 million acres in Arizona and may endanger cherished outdoor areas + local economic benefits if enacted. KJZZ
