ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A 19-year-old teen died on May 27 in Tempe after inhaling chemicals from a cleaning spray (a dangerous trend called dusting) that triggered heart failure, and police are investigating while her donated organs will help save at least six lives. 12 News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Maricopa Association of Governments works with community partners to update an online map of cooling centers as most of the Valley’s 200 sites are open for a hot weekend — senior planner Cleo Warner said the effort helps avoid geographic gaps in relief access. The coordinated work supports residents and vulnerable populations who need adequate cooling. KJZZ
- ➤ The South Central Extension opened Saturday in Phoenix and now links Mesa riders to downtown via two new rail lines running over a 5.5-mile route. The expansion will add over 8,000 daily riders to the system and offers trains every 12 minutes until 7 p.m.—cutting wait times for transfers. Mesa Independent
- ➤ More than 50 military police from the 855th Military Police Company attended a ceremony at Papago Park Military Reservation in Phoenix on Sunday and will soon deploy to Fort Greely, Alaska to conduct security forces operations (for about one year). The unit will undergo extensive drone training and cold-weather preparations as they ready themselves for the mission. 12 News

- ➤ The CDC warned that a Salmonella outbreak linked to a California egg producer sickened at least three people in Arizona and led to a recall of 1.7 million eggs from the August Egg Company. Some local Walmart stores received the recalled eggs & people in possession are advised to dispose of them or return them while cleaning any surfaces that had contact with the product. KJZZ
