- ➤ A new report from the Solar Energy Industries Association shows Arizona added about 940 MWh battery storage in Q1 – 36% less than last year although it remains the nation's second highest, and Joan White said utilities plan to store solar power during the day to meet evening demand. KJZZ

- ➤ A Mesa parent, Jason Smithson (a school board candidate), urged the City Council on May 18 to keep and expand support for early literacy by emphasizing the benefits of the K-Ready program for children ages 3 to 5. Mesa Independent
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Arizona State University researchers have unveiled the Dust Storm Scale+ a system that rates storms by measuring dust concentration, wind speed and duration to help locals understand air quality. The website will launch on June 1 with detailed classifications. 12 News

- ➤ The planned Sunaire Hotel for Mesa’s Off the Street temporary housing program remains vacant even as homelessness rises.
