  • The City of Mesa is asking for volunteers for the Willmeng Arizona Celebration of Freedom on Friday, July 4 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Mesa Convention Center at 263 N. Center St; volunteers aged 16 or 14 with a guardian will work in roles like the splash zone and carnival games + they will receive a commemorative T-shirt and free meal + snacks along with raffle entry as the free festival will feature live music, BMX stunt riders, classic cars, and fireworks.  Mesa Now

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Arizona's low humidity helps your body cool down by letting sweat evaporate fast even when it is very hot. Meteorologist Chris Dunn explained that dry heat feels more bearable than humid air+ but it can also lead to dehydration if you do not drink enough water.  12 News

  • Buca Di Beppo, a Mesa restaurant serving lunch and dinner, sought a new series 12 license at a Mesa City Council meeting on May 19 at 5:45 p.m.—The council will decide on the licensing soon.  Mesa Independent
  • Mesa City Council will vote on a $500,000-per-year contract to upgrade closed-circuit television equipment for sewer inspections at today's meeting at 5:45 p.m.—the upgrade is expected to improve infrastructure monitoring.  Mesa Independent
