- ➤ A Mesa grandmother was scammed by a contractor who took money to build a mini wrestling ring for her grandkids until two locals helped; Mariana Van Meter donated wrestling mats and contractor Cesar Ontiveros built the complete ring in her backyard, delighting her grandchildren (Christan and Austin). BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Mesa’s planning and zoning board conditionally approved a proposed data center project at the northeast corner of Pecos and Crismon roads. The project awaits city council approval, and some residents (concerned about water usage and health issues) are seeking a halt to the build. ABC15 Arizona
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Mesa staff and consultants pitched a proposal today to replace the current Natural History Museum building at 53 N. Macdonald with a 288,000 sqft mixed-use facility — including a hotel, interactive exhibits, dining, and retail spaces — with $6 million set aside over the next two years to refine the plan. - ➤ Mesa Community College is accepting online applications for the Mesa College Promise program, which covers two years of tuition & fees at MCC for eligible local high school graduates and adults 25 and older for the 2026-27 academic year. Applications are due by June 22. Mesa Independent
