- ➤ Mesa’s 20th Annual Hydration Donation Campaign is underway to help vulnerable residents stay hydrated during extreme summer heat until Sept. 30, with a goal of 500,000 water bottles and $50,000 in online donations + Mesa Mayor Mark Freeman joined local businesses at United Food Bank to kick off the drive. - ➤ APS parent company reported its first-quarter sales grew well above average, driven by a heat wave in February and March and increased industrial demand from the semiconductor and data center sectors. The utility registered a 9.4% weather-normalized increase — and it is seeking state approval for a 14% rate hike. KJZZ

- ➤ Guillermo Reyes, an ASU professor who helped shape Phoenix theater through founding Teatro Bravo, is retiring today after a 30-year tenure at ASU (he will remain active in theater beyond academia). KJZZ
- ➤ ASU Prep Polytechnic Preschool invites families to attend campus tours to learn about enrolling pre-kindergarten students for the school year (2026 to 2027) at ASU Preparatory Academy. Tours will provide key registration details and a look at the facilities. Mesa Independent
- ➤ Skyline High School senior Summer Fairbanks (one of only three nationwide) was surprised during her AP Calculus class by a $60K check from the Burger King Foundation’s James W. McLamore WHOPPER Award, which will help fund her college studies in special education at Arizona State University. 12 News

- ➤ Residents of Julia Apartments in Mesa and Avana in Gilbert may receive a share of $1.5 million+ restitution from a settlement announced on Wednesday by Attorney General Kris Mayes. Tenants charged extra fees from Jan. 1, 2023 to Jan. 1, 2026 can file claims online. KJZZ

- ➤ Mesa City Council unanimously approved a new development on 3.1 acres near West Rio Salado Parkway and North Cubs Way.
