- ➤ Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs signed bill HB 2109—the Arizona End Organ Harvesting Act—that lets insurers and the Medicaid agency limit coverage for organ transplants when the organ or the surgery is linked to China, following a 2019 report on forced organ harvesting. KJZZ
- ➤ Gov. Katie Hobbs signed a new law on May 9 that lets drivers with communication disabilities choose to share their status with officers through their vehicle registration or ID—this law, shaped by input from local law enforcement and inspired by an Arizona family's concerns, will take effect 90 days after the legislative session ends. - ➤ Solari Crisis and Human Services worked with Gov. Katie Hobbs, APS and other stakeholders to secure the funds needed for Arizona’s 211 service, which costs $3.5M a year but still needs $1.5M. The governor’s office said funding is extended through November—stakeholders are set to develop a long-term plan to keep the vital service running. KJZZ
- ➤ On Friday, an Arizona federal judge granted a temporary injunction to delay the Oak Flat land transfer from the U.S. Forest Service to Resolution Copper — he ruled that Apache Stronghold’s claims of irreparable harm to an Apache holy site in Tonto National Forest warrant a pause until the U.S. Supreme Court reviews the petition. The legal hold follows a Phoenix hearing and will continue until the nation's highest court makes a decision. KJZZ
