- ➤ Mesa Gateway Airport now offers nonstop service to 45 destinations — it processed two million passengers last year, officials said. The airport will add five gates, revamp its baggage area and rebuild its runway by end of summer to support further growth in 2026. ABC15 Arizona
- ➤ This summer, The Yard Milkshake Bar will open its new Mesa location (4503 S. Power Road, No. 101 in the Cannon Beach development) where owners Scott and Kendra Mills plan to offer their over-the-top milkshakes and desserts for families, students, and visitors. Mesa Independent

- ➤ Mesa educator Janice Stenglein, a teacher at Faith Christian School who lives in Apache Junction, has been awarded a 2026 fellowship to study in Japan this summer. - ➤ A Maricopa County Superior Court judge ruled Friday in a case between EVIT and nine school districts. The ruling, which requires districts to follow state law and limits funding to service costs, comes as EVIT operates two Mesa campuses (1601 W. Main St. and 6625 S. Power Road). Mesa Independent
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ ASU will launch the nation’s first Center for Heat Preparedness after a $2.6 million federal investment was announced on Friday to help communities counter extreme heat. The center will develop predictive models and best practices such as expanding cooling centers (and bus stop shade) to safeguard public health and infrastructure. 12 News
