  • Mesa mobile home residents at La Casita face an eviction deadline tomorrow as the mobile park is set to convert for commercial use, leaving many scrambling for affordable housing amid insufficient relocation funds - residents report overwhelming emotional and financial stress as they try to secure new homes.  12 News

  • Guadalupe Car Show marked its 25th anniversary on April 25 when the adobe-style mercado transformed into a vibrant gathering of 400 to 500 lowriders from across the region, drawing enthusiasts for a free, family-friendly celebration & community tradition.  KJZZ

ECONOMY NEWS

  • The Arizona Office of Economic Opportunity released its March Employment Report on May 1, showing the state lost 10,900 jobs since February and the unemployment rate edged from 4.6% to 4.7%. Chief economist Doug Walls said some sectors slowed while others, like healthcare, kept growing.  KJZZ

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Mesa Community College is investing $39 million in two new workforce training centers to update a nearly 40-year-old welding facility and add sustainable horticulture and veterinary training (part of a new workforce development corridor). Construction will begin soon with key openings expected by early 2028.  ABC15 Arizona

  • The Phoenix Suns’ season ended earlier this week after a four-game playoff sweep by the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder. The team made the playoffs as the eighth seed after beating the Golden State Warriors in the play-in tournament.  KJZZ
