- ➤ A motorcycle hit a car near University Drive and Higley Road in Mesa—one person was rushed to a hospital and northbound traffic remains restricted. 12 News
- ➤ A child was hurt after a house caught fire near Greenfield and Brown roads Saturday morning in Mesa — firefighters rescued two dogs and took the child to the hospital for possible smoke inhalation as the cause remains under investigation. ABC15 Arizona

- ➤ Incoming City Manager Scott Butler will earn a base salary of $345,000 when he starts on June 1, making his pay the second lowest among his Valley peers—City Manager Chris Brady retires on May 31 after 19 years and Butler must move to Mesa within 60 days. The Mesa Tribune
- ➤ ADOT announced that its new travel IDs include hidden designs revealed with a black light that show a scorpion under a starry night and a howling coyote as tributes to the Grand Canyon State—features to help stop fraud. Residents must use the new IDs or another approved document for boarding domestic flights starting May 7. 12 News
