CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Charles Smith, a 27-year-old TikTok creator, pleaded guilty on April 22 to criminal damage, solicitation to commit burglary in the third-degree, and adding a harmful substance to a food product after he was arrested for filming himself spraying bug killer on produce at a Mesa Walmart—he allegedly returned to the store to try to collect the items while affected products were removed from shelves. 12 News
- ➤ Wesley Leasy, a former Arizona Cardinals player, was held at Sky Harbor Airport on April 10 after Mesa police thought his car was linked to a shooting near State Route 87 and McLellan Road just before 7 p.m. and he and his daughter were released when officers confirmed they were not the suspects. The Arizona Republic
- ➤ Mesa man Terrell Maurice Mars—47—was arrested on April 18 on a criminal complaint alleging his involvement in a bank robbery. Mesa Independent

- ➤ The Mesa City Council voted unanimously on April 21 to recommend a new series 12 restaurant license for Tipsy Chicken—a Mesa restaurant that serves lunch and dinner. Mesa Independent
- ➤ Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Max was given Narcan on April 24 after he showed signs of opioid distress during an inmate search at a county jail. The black Labrador recovered fully and returned to duty—he later helped recover 400 fentanyl pills during another search—reinforcing his role in helping keep our community safe. 12 News
