- ➤ After more than 30 years of wear and tear, local contractors led by Richard Candelaria of Sharp Creek Contracting and House of Refuge Board Member Brian Heath have begun replacing streets and 74 carport driveways in the House of Refuge neighborhood with new asphalt and concrete to improve safety. House of Refuge will host a road reopening celebration at 6909 E. Ursula Ave. at 8 a.m. Wednesday, May 14—marking the next step in its neighborhood beautification efforts. Mesa Independent
