  • A 70-year-old landscaper was attacked by hundreds of bees while clearing weeds near 7th Street and Thomas Road on Apr. 11 and was rushed to a hospital where he spent nearly a week in treatment before returning to work.  12 News

  • Boeing Co. has received the Best of Arizona Award from the Arizona Association for Economic Development, recognizing its long-standing leadership in aerospace and defense and its strong economic impact in Mesa. A city release said the award honors efforts that boost state growth.  Mesa Independent
  • Swire Coca-Cola USA opened a 241,000 sqft facility at 3937 S. Power Road in Mesa today — a site employing about 100 people and set to meet rising beverage demand for Coca-Cola, Sprite, and Fanta as Mesa Vice Mayor Scott Somers and CEO Andrea Kendell led the ribbon cutting.  Mesa Independent

  • Gas prices in Arizona remain high today at around $4.57 per gallon, sparking renewed talk about electric vehicles.   • Today, Mesa Public Schools is starting a $1.6 million renovation at the Curriculum Service Center on Stapley Drive to consolidate administrative staff — the superintendent will move during summer while HR and finance follow in the fall; construction is scheduled for late August or early September.  The Mesa Tribune
  • Mesa students and education experts report that public schools’ civics and financial literacy classes rely on memorization more than practical skills, leaving learners unprepared for everyday challenges.
