ECONOMY NEWS

  • Diesel gas prices hit a record high of $6.20 a gallon on Wednesday in Arizona, breaking the previous $5.90 record set in 2022 according to AAA.  KJZZ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Clean-energy candidates won five board seats in the Salt River Project election on Tuesday, April 7, earning an 8–6 majority that may boost plans for more renewable energy options in the region. Voter turnout jumped to over 36,000 ballots compared to past averages.  KJZZ
  • A state study shows that SNAP enrollment in Arizona dropped by 47%—over 400,000 fewer recipients, including 180,000 children, were recorded by February. Changes from HR 1 and staffing shortages at DES are partly blamed for the steep decline.  KJZZ

HEALTH NEWS

  • A Maricopa County measles case was confirmed, and Queen Creek visits may have exposed residents. Health officials warn that visits to Costco (Apr. 3, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.), Walmart (Apr. 4, 8:15 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.), or Generation Church Elementary (Apr. 5, 8:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.) may risk infection.  12 News
