  • A Maricopa father demanded answers after his 2-year-old son broke his femur during outdoor play at Children’s Learning Adventure on Mar. 23 — emergency crews treated the boy, who spent two nights in the hospital, and he removed his children from the daycare while exploring legal action.  12 News

  • Mesa's Office of Economic Development will host AZ Tech Week Mesa on Monday, April 6 and Tuesday, April 7 at The Post and Mesa Business Builder at The Studios, featuring sessions on AI, aviation, cybersecurity and sustainable business growth for local entrepreneurs and investors.  Mesa Now

  • Arizona drivers face gas prices over $4.50 per gallon as politicians propose measures like tax refunds & suspending the gas tax, but no plan has been approved yet. As a result, drivers continue paying higher prices at the pump.  12 News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Mesa Community College is accepting online applications through June 22 for the Mesa College Promise program for the 2026-27 academic year. The program covers two years of tuition and fees for eligible Mesa residents and reflects a partnership among the college, city officials and local businesses.  Mesa Independent

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A permit approved Wednesday allows Skybridge Harmony Homes to open its transitional community residence near the northwest corner of Signal Butte and Williams Field roads in Mesa. The facility is set to offer a supervised environment for behavioral health care to up to 10 adults.  Mesa Independent
  • A report from the Arizona Governor's Office of Resiliency states that advanced geothermal energy may help state utilities meet rising power demands from tech companies and a growing population. The report — which offers over 30 policy recommendations — could guide future energy policies statewide.  KJZZ
  • The Arizona Department of Transportation advised drivers to avoid the northbound Loop 101 ramps from Price to Superstition Freeways this weekend and use Baseline, Dobson or McClintock for US Highway 60 access. Officials urged extra caution when merging + on holiday traffic.  Mesa Independent

  • The Arizona Diamondbacks swept the Detroit Tigers 1-0 on Wednesday as Zac Gallen kept the opposition at bay (using 88 pitches in six innings) while Corbin Carroll homered for the lone run. The win completed a three-game series sweep for the D-backs.  12 News
