CULTURE NEWS

  • The Mesa Arizona Temple will host the annual Jesus the Christ: The Mesa Easter Pageant starting Wednesday, Mar. 25 at 8 p.m. at 525 E. Main St., Mesa (the event runs until April 4 except March 29 and 30) and admission is free.  East Valley Tribune

ECONOMY NEWS

  • The City of Mesa is building hotels swiftly as economic developers report that visitor numbers are outpacing current lodging options. New projects are planned to ease the shortage and expand available space.  ABC15 Arizona

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Mesa Community College has been accepting online applications through June 22 for the Mesa College Promise program aimed at covering two years of tuition for eligible local high school graduates and Mesa residents at least 25 (including adults who have not attended college before) as part of a public-private partnership.  Mesa Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Arizona utility regulators repealed the state's renewable energy standards that have required utilities to get 15% of their power from renewables since 2006. The Corporation Commission made the vote earlier this March, a decision that may affect energy prices for taxpayers.  KJZZ

HEALTH NEWS

  • Maricopa County health officials presented their 2026 heat response plan Monday to expand cooling centers and outreach in Mesa and other cities, responding to last year’s decline in heat-related deaths (425 compared to 608 and 645 in prior years). The plan represents the final ARPA-funded season for these efforts.  12 News
