- ➤ Communications Supervisor Kim Powell at Maricopa County Animal Care and Control has refreshed shelter marketing by promoting TV adoption events and managing public relations to help find homes for rescued animals. Powell said her new method replaces sad messaging with warmer campaigns (to better connect with the community). Mesa Independent
- ➤ Chicanos por La Causa has been awarded a grant (from the National Council on Aging) to help seniors enroll in Medicaid and SNAP programs amid rising living costs. The group uses trained navigators to assist fixed-income older adults with limited digital access in Mesa. KJZZ
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ A new scholarship called Guarantee Your Future with Freeport will support students, including Mesa residents, with full tuition, books, and living expenses to secure high-tech mining jobs. The program will award 30 scholarships statewide with mentorship and hands-on training, and the application deadline is Sunday, Mar. 15. 12 News

- ➤ The Arizona Department of Transportation launched a new digital ID app that lets residents store their state-issued identification on their smartphones and verify it at bars, retailers, and the airport. - ➤ On March 10, the Mesa Design Review Board unanimously approved design modifications for a 13,673 sqft industrial development at Gateway Airport Commerce Park near East Pecos Road and South 89th Place in Mesa—with updated plans that rethink the building footprint and main drive aisle.
