  • Two lottery ticket buyers in Mesa and Phoenix won on Tuesday. The Mesa QuikTrip at 3563 E. Main St. sold a Triple Twist ticket worth $315,000, with winning numbers (11, 14, 17, 19, 23, 24) announced by Arizona Lottery officials.  Mesa Independent

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Overnight, gas prices jumped from $3.10 to $3.19 per gallon, and Mesa drivers may soon face higher pump costs as global oil supply issues persist + experts warn further price increases if disruptions continue.  12 News
  • SRP management proposes a 3% rate decrease on power bills from May to Oct to help customers save about $5.57 each month + align summer prices with lower costs. The SRP board will vote on the plan on Mar. 26.  KJZZ

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Forty-eight Mesa Community College Theatre + Musical Theatre students earned top honors at the 58th annual American College Theatre Festival held Feb. 10 through 14 at Glendale Community College.   • Mesa convenience store Mango Mini Mart sought a series 10 beer and wine license following a unanimous city council vote on Feb. 23. The council recommended the application for MV4 Enterprise LLC at 760 S. Alma School Road with agent Lauren Kay Merrett.  Mesa Independent
  • Faith leaders and community members urged support for a permanent housing plan for the Off the Streets program when a local woman shared her experience at Mesa City Hall on March 4, highlighting the urgent need for stable shelter among vulnerable residents.  The Arizona Republic

  • Maricopa County's heat deaths dropped 30% last year from 608 in 2024 to 427 in 2025, county health officials said. Phoenix expanded its 24-hour heat relief sites + officials credit policy changes with reducing fatalities after last summer’s record heat.  KJZZ
