CULTURE NEWS

  • Mesa officials indicated that Arizona’s only baseball museum will officially open at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21 at 2345 N. Horne (in the former Lehi Elementary auditorium). The museum will offer free admission with live music, presentations, vendors and kids’ crafts.  The Mesa Tribune

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Eastmark High School earned the Arizona 2025 Advanced Placement School Honor Roll for the second year in a row. The honor, given to only 9% of qualifying schools, reflects the school’s focus on building AP exam skills in Mesa.  Mesa Independent

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Mesa officials on Feb. 10 reviewed plans for a 36-unit residence for Cubs minor league players and a 103-room hotel at a former county animal shelter on North Price Road and West Rio Salado Parkway. The campus will have secure access and landscaped common areas—features that support community needs.  Mesa Independent

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Cactus League spring training starts Feb. 20 as 15 MLB teams practice at 10 ballparks across the Valley, including Mesa’s Hohokam Stadium where the Athletics play. The event lasts six weeks and gives fans a chance to see players up close.  12 News
  • A water main break near Val Vista Drive and McDowell Road led city officials to reroute part of the Mesa Marathon course on Feb. 14 after repairs fixed the issue on Feb. 10, and nearly 10,000 runners participated as crews kept a close watch on the area.  The Arizona Republic
