  • Aldi will open two new Mesa stores—one near Power and Elliot roads, expected to open by the end of 2026, part of a larger Arizona expansion that adds metro Phoenix locations and a Goodyear distribution center.  The Arizona Republic

CULTURE NEWS

  • Michael Pollack’s Pollack Advertising Museum (housed in a former furniture warehouse) displays a vast collection of vintage motorized advertising pieces from brands like Bergie and Edgewood Whiskey. The museum is not open to the public and preserves unique ad history.  KJZZ
  • A new guide helps locals spot iconic architecture in metro Phoenix, detailing designs by architects such as Frank Lloyd Wright and Al Beadle (known for his box-style homes) before they vanish.  KJZZ
  • Michelin, the internationally renowned restaurant guide, is beginning to rate restaurants in the Southwest—with inspectors active in Arizona and a guide scheduled to publish later this year. Mesa diners may soon see local eateries featured in this first-ever rating effort.  KJZZ

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Mesa residents Emily Markle and Carson Reimers earned a spot on the President’s Honor Roll at Adams State University (Alamosa) for Spring 2025 by achieving a 4.0 or above this semester.  Mesa Independent

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • New SNAP work requirements that began earlier this year may leave nearly 147,000 Arizonans without benefits while local food banks brace for steady demand — recertification delays and staff cuts add to the pressure.  KJZZ

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Construction is underway on the upscale Cambria Hotel in southeast Mesa (3501 S. Ellsworth Road) with 107 rooms, a rooftop restaurant and bar, outdoor pool, fitness center, guest laundry, meeting rooms and EV charging stations; it will open early in 2027.  Mesa Now
