CULTURE NEWS

  • Mesa’s Pegasus Landing built an international Christmas Village over several months from poster board, cardboard and glue with local residents’ help. The moving display — including Santa circling a cottage and rotating landmarks — brings a unique holiday glow to the community.  Mesa Independent

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Mesa officials will review on Feb. 9 a proposal to charge landing fees at Falcon Field, with fees beginning March 1 if approved. Pilots warn the fee risks safety, training, and business activity, predicting up to a 30% decline (potentially impacting airport revenue).  The Mesa Tribune
  • Arizona water officials said progress was made in Colorado River talks and a proposal to restrict winter water withdrawals from Lake Powell is under consideration as they met weekly ahead of a Feb. 14 deadline, and the Gilbert Town Council approved plans to raise water rates in 2026.  KJZZ

HEALTH NEWS

  • Starting today, Banner Health requires all patients, visitors and staff to wear masks in common areas at its Arizona facilities to help protect vulnerable individuals amid a flu surge, and masks will be provided at entrances (mask rules do not apply in private rooms).  KJZZ
